Alberto Meda

Born in Tremezzina (Como) in 1945 he graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Milan Polytechnic in 1969. 

Technical director of Kartell since 1973, Meda has been working as an industrial designer since 1979 with important Italian and foreign design brands. To cite a few: Alessi, Arabia-Finland, JcDecaux, Mandarina Duck, Ideal Standard, Omron Japan, Philips, Vitra and Olivetti. 
Starting from the 1980s he has also taught at important institutes and universities: Domus Academy, Università IUAV di Venezia and Politecnico di Milano.
His design work has won 5 awards over the years: “Compasso d’Oro”, of which the latter in 2016 together with Francesco Meda thanks to Flap made for Caimi Brevetti. 
His international awards include “Designer of the year” at Salon du Meuble de Paris in 1999 and “Hon Royal Designer for Industry” in 2005.
